Opatrní muži a přátelé věrně milí!

Gegeben usw.
Překlad angličtina
Good men and dear faithful friends.
As the grace of God has been given to us so gently and kindly and drawn us to his grace more willingly than to any other, we determined in our hearts that there was nothing more worthy than to obey the will of God and to observe and practice the faith and the law of Christian order with all of our power and to serve our Lord Jesus Christ with all of our ability. We have been burdened with many cares and the evil of the ancient foe who opposes all good things and attempts to destroy all sacred intentions and cast it down into doubt, and cruelly induced the pope and the Council of Constance against us and the Kingdom of Bohemia. This council attempted many times to commit injustice against us and has committed many deceptions in order to stamp out the faithful from the kingdom and this was all on account of the truth of communion in the body and blood of Christ under both kinds by all faithful Christians. The council has already perpetrated many great and grievous injuries against us. Most recently the church has acted, not as a mother, but as a stepmother. That most cruel snake has given birth to a malignant offspring, born of an evil report and the entire poison has been poured out upon us when on Laetare Sunday Fourth Sunday in Lent, 17 March in Wrocław the church raised the cruel cross against all of the faithful in our kingdom with bloody hands and announced a crusade through corrupted mouth and venomous lips. All of this has been for nothing other than that mentioned above which is the truth of God. There has been neither admonishment, trial, nor an audience but merely a shameful denunciation on account of which the innocent Christ and his pure saints have been disgraced by these detractions of evil people. On this account that council of Constance together with the pope have called from everywhere an unjust war, summoning our natural enemies, the Germans, and have invited them, with false indulgences from pain and sin to fight us. Even though they have no reason, they are always antagonistic to our language especially on the Rhine, in Meißen and in Prussia, from where we have been expelled. They wish for us to settle in exile.
Oh evil! Oh much more than evil! Who would not be irate seeing this evil? Who can see it and not be moved to tears? Who, faithful to the kingdom, would not grieve over the fact that the lying priest, full of iniquity wishes to ferment this pus in this golden and most Christian kingdom even to the point of exterminating within us the truth of God which even God has raised up and defends? These people, whose eyes have been turned from all justice are now urged to take up arms against this truth by the cross of our Lord Jesus. Being full of tolerance and charity, we cannot even prepare for war, for weapons, against that which we honour and will always honour. They are trying to take this truth away from us like the godless for the destruction and shame and utter disrepute of the entire kingdom. Therefore, dearest and faithful friends in the kingdom of Bohemia, we appeal to your wisdom and consistent defence of our language, with love and justice that you might be prepared to stand up to resist all of our enemies and we admonish you and encourage you with our whole heart and great sorrow which we have been unable to conceal, with the desire that this great evil not be allowed to grow because of our silence. We earnestly pray that you, like brave knights, may remember our fathers, the old Czechs, fervent lovers of their country, and stand up willingly against this evil and remain with us and with the communities of the great Old and New Towns of Prague. We have agreed with one accord and have completely confirmed this. We advise you and support your stand against anyone who would attempt to promote that malignant cross so that we might avoid such injury to our language and make free this Christian kingdom with the help of our Lord, the almighty God, whose cause we hold, and with the help of the famous St Václav our patron.
Finally, for the accomplishing of this, kindly condescend to send two or more of your leading men from your community to us on the relevant day. Do remember that this will bring you as well as us, great praise, honour and the gratitude of our descendants for the greater welfare and benefit of our fatherland and the kingdom of Bohemia.
