This applet loads the data from an URL, then you can browse it. The advantage is, that once the data is loaded, there are no time-consuming actions such as loading more data. The disadvantage is that Visual Browser cannot load huge files, so only a part of WordNet is available (subtree of food).
Literals (words) are displayed as words in rectangles, synsets (meanings) are displayed as ellipses (green=substantives, magenta=verbs, blue=adjectives). Visual Browser displays only a certain radius, nodes that are too far from the focused node hide. To prevent this behavior, you can extend the radius (select Radius from the top left selectbox and slide the scrollbar to the right) or you can display any node by clicking the right mouse button and choosing Expand node. If you put the mouse over a synset, it displays the definition of the synset (if available) .
Try to search a literal by typing it in the search window or click on one of the following literals: pasta, Pinot noir or beef, apple, white potato.
